Pottery Experience

Western NC is famous for its pottery artists.  The local clay has become a staple for these artists and the talent has grown here for hundreds of years. Today this area has become a potter’s paradise. There are numerous studios and shops that sell ceramics but if you would like to have a Pottery Experience, we would love to provide it.

On Sundays from 1:00 – 3:00, we will provide you and your family/friends with a fun and creative experience making mugs or vases from raw clay. The staff at High Country Ceramic Arts will show you how. Once it is complete, you can paint it with underglaze. After it dries, it will be fired in a kiln. A clear glaze will be added, and it will be fired again. Once it is done, the items will be shipped to you for an additional cost, or they can be held for future pick-up.

All ages are welcome. Kids 6-10 are $45.00 and under 6 free with parental assistance.

If making an object is too intimidating, there is the option of painting pre-made pottery. You can choose a piece to underglaze/paint. It will be clear glazed and fired to a beautiful shine. Then it will be shipped for an additional cost, or it can be picked up later. The price for this option is set by the piece. The prices range from $20.00 - $80.00.

There is a class maximum of 12 people, but they can be done with as few as 2.

To ensure there is space reservations need to be made by Saturday night no later than 8.00 pm.
